• CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (CBI)

    • • CBI owes its origin to Special police Establishment relating to vigilance cases setup in 1941. CBI was established in 1963 by a resolution of Ministry of Home Affairs . Later it was placed under the Ministry of Personnel. The Bureau is headed by a Director.

    • • Its functioning is regulated in9 accordance with the provisions of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 Initially its main object was to look into anticorruption cases. Over the years, it has evolved into a premier investigating agency of Government of India to investigate complex and important cases.

    • • It is also the nodal police agency in India which coordinates investigation on behalf of INTERPOL member countries.
